Sodražica

Sodražica lies in the northwestern part of the Ribnica valley, at the headwaters of the Bistrica river. One of the most beautiful local landmarks is the Kadica gorge with the natural waterfall, the water-carved depressions and protected flora. The tradition of homemade dry goods (»suhorobarstvo«) has been kept alive until this day. With an octagonal ground plan, the pilgrimage church atop Nova Štifta is considered to be one of the most beautiful baroque architectural creations in Slovenia. Its distinguishing feature are the four lime trees and hut from 1878. The 1200-meter Travna gora mountain rises nearby, covered with forests and pastures.
