Kočevje

Kočevje is the economic and cultural center of Kočevska, a land of sprawling forests, unspoiled nature, primeval forest reserves, rich flora and fauna, numerous caves and lakes. The area has a special history, as it was left alone for a very long time – considered to be an inaccessible virgin forest. Because of the geographical inaccessibility and remoteness, the traditional customs, clothes and speech of the area have been kept very much alive. Many well-marked hiking trails provide opportunities for long walks through nature.
