Trebnje Gallery - presentation

The collection of the Trebnje Gallery of Naive Artists comprises works of art by creative and deep-feeling individuals who express their personal vision through art. Without formal art training, with a strong will and the use of their talent, they explore and shape our perception of the world, thus reaching a wider audience with original yet universally recognisable images. More than 1000 works of art by artists from around the world draw inspiration from the global treasure chest of ideas, tradition and mythology. Part of the collection is displayed at the permanent exhibition, with temporary exhibitions and the International Meeting of Naive Artists (first organised in 1968) exploring the creativity of recognised artists as well as young, as yet unestablished artists. We seek to bring art to each individual with the help of workshops, lectures, round tables and other activities.

In the last decade, the Trebnje Gallery of Naive Artists, whose beginnings date back to 1971, has been operating under the Trebnje Centre for Education and Culture (CIK Trebnje), a public institution founded by the municipalities Mirna, Mokronog-Trebelno, Šentrupert and Trebnje. The Gallery organises solo and group exhibitions of domestic and foreign artists and, through international cooperation, promotes artists and naive art beyond its home country.
