Mašun lies 1025 m above the sea level in a wonderful environment of the Snežnik woods. This is the crossroads between the municipalities Ilirska Bistrica, Cerknica, Pivka and the Loška Valley.
It used to be a predominantly forester's settlement, however the beauty of the intact nature and clean air attract increasingly more tourists from near and far.
The visitors can take a walk along the Mašun forest-learning path, do cycling, or try a more demanding 4-hour ascent to the Snežnik Mount.
For those that enjoy winter sports, there is a small skiing place, a sledge track and cross-country tracks.
We also organise festive dinners and lunches (for anniversaries, end-of-year gatherings, weddings, various meetings, etc.)
Our boarding house is especially known for its game cooking, but we also offer other dishes à la carte. You can choose among venison dishes, bear paws, bear steaks, deer dishes and wild boar dishes, as well as other specialities. The guests can be seated in the big dining room with 60 seats, the small dining rooms with 12 seats, or at the bar with 16 seats. In the summer, you can also be served in the garden, where the pleasant breeze will cool you down. Adults can play a match of bowling, and in the mean time the children will have fun on the playground.
Nature and party lovers can organise - or let us organise - a picnic in Jurček, a roofed picnic place.
You may also want to visit the remains of the castle, THE HUNTING MANSION SCHÖNBURG, and even spend a night in one of its towers.
