Črna na Koroškem is located in the upper Mežica valley. Foundries and the iron industry played an important role in its development. Winter sports have a long tradition in the area; many world-famous skiers began their career on the ski slopes of Črna. The Park of King Matjaž provides opportunities for plenty of other sports as well. Beneath the southern face of Peca lies the beautiful Topla alpine valley, protected as a natural park for its amazing natural wonders. The area is also known for the legend of King Matjaž, the Najevska lipa lime tree and castles made out of ice and snow.
