TRAVELLING BY CAR

Slovenia has a rich road network, so travelling by car may be the ideal way to get to know the country. In total there are 1356 km of main roads, 3391 km of regional and 9554 km of local roads in the country. The framework of the whole road network is the traffic intersection with the international marks E 57 (Maribor – Celje – Ljubljana – Koper) and E 61 (Jesenice – Ljubljana – Obrežje). On these road connections there are in total 441.8 km of motorway sections (June 2005), some of them still in the process of construction. These are toll roads. More information 

 
Taxi service
Taxi service is well developed in all major towns and tourist resorts. The pricelist of services is uniform. The taxi metre is an obligatory device, which the taxi driver should start once you are seated in the car. Taxis usually do not drive around towns, but can be found in certain designated areas near bus and railway stations, airports, hotels, etc.

 

TRAVELLING BY BUS

All relevant places in Slovenia are accessible by means of regular bus connections. Bus transport is well organised. Busses are the main means of public transport in cities and their surroundings.

The public company Ljubljana bus transports (LPP) takes care of a safe, reliable, comfortable and undisturbed public transport in the area of the whole City Municipality of Ljubljana and the 16 suburban municipalities. TRAVELLING BY TRAIN

Slovene Railways have 1196 km of railway tracks; the railway network covers the whole country. By means of comfortable modern trains the tourist can reach any tourist resort or starting places for mountain trips, skiing or visit the seaside.

Transport by train is especially interesting for groups of people due discounts for the young and groups of 50%. Additional discounts can be granted on the basis of family tickets, InterRail tickets for the young, etc. More information


TRAVELLING BY PLANE


Apart from three international airports, there are almost 13 more airparks in Slovenia, from which panoramic flights can be done all over the country. Such sports and tourist airparks have all the necessary equipment for sport flying and training available. They are located in Ajdovščina, Bovec, Celje, Lesce, Murska Sobota, Novo mesto, Portorož, Postojna, Ptuj, Slovenj Gradec and Šoštanj. More information

Slovene coastal towns are linked also by sea. On the connection Portorož – Ankaran – Portorož there is a regular line of the passenger catamaran Big Red which can accept 81 passengers on board. More information
