Zavrč

Zavrč can be found in northeastern Slovenia, in eastern Haloze near the Croatian border. Since the Celtic times, the area has been known for delightful wine, and viticulture still provides plenty of income for the locals. The most important historical building is the 17th-century manor house on the hill, where the courthouse and the administrative center of the county were located until 1850. An old pillar from the times of the Turkish invasions is said to mark the grave of a Turkish grandmother atop Turški vrh.
