Vrhnika

Vrhnika's coat of arms contains a ship, as the development of the city is closely linked to ships and the Ljubljanica river which begins here at eleven karstic springs. Here, the karstic Dinaric Alps, the foothills of the Julian Alps and the swampy meadows of the Ljubljana moor meet.Culturally, Vrhnika is the city of Ivan Cankar, and it is also enriched by an impressive architectural heritage. The former Carthusian monastery in Bistra now houses the Technical Museum of Slovenia.
