Tržič

The northern part of the municipality is taken up by the central Karavanke mountains. In the south, the mountains give way to hills and, in the far south, to the flat plains called Dobrave that are part of the northern Ljublana basin. Snaking through the mountains, the Tržiška Bistrica river gives a unique appearance to the area and discloses its geological history at the Dovžan gorge. In June, the mountains come alive, numerous thematic trails show off their beauty, and mountain lodges open their doors. The traditional Šuštarski sejem fair is held in Tržič every year.
