The Medvode municipality lies at the confluence of the Sava and Sora rivers. It is quickly becoming a popular tourist destination, especially for residents of the nearby capital city. Medvode can rightfully be called the green gateway to the capital. The area is almost packed with natural and cultural sights: the Polhograjski Dolomiti National Park (an oasis of variety, hills, rivers, streams and hot springs), Castle Smlednik with its calvary, the Lazarini Renaissance manor house, Castle Goričane, the Zbilje lake and others.
