Markovci
The Markovci municipality stretches over the flat lands of the lower Ptuj plain, mainly on the left bank of the Drava river. The Šturmovec Landscape park lies on the right bank. The town of Markovci was first mentioned in 1215 and became a municipality in 1937 under the name »Sv. Marko niže Ptuja«. The area is known for the korant and other carnival figures: rusa, piceki, orači, vile, medvedi, kopjaši ... Every year, you can meet them at the »fašenk« in Markovci and other nearby villages.
