Slovene coastal towns are linked also by sea. On the connection Portorož – Ankaran – Portorož there is a regular line of the passenger catamaran Big Red which can accept 81 passengers on board. The travel takes one hour and a half with interim stops in Bernardin, Piran, Izola and Koper.
Very frequent during the tourist season are also excursions between the Slovenian and Italian coast of the Adriatic Sea. From March to October the Slovenian coast is linked with Venice via the Catamaran Prince of Venice which can accept 303 passengers on board. The way to Venice takes two and a half hours, passengers can enjoy a refreshing drink in the bar or do shopping in the duty-free shop.
In the direction Portorož/Piran – Venice – Portorož/Piran there are also ship connections of fast catamarans Venezia Lines . The offer on the vessels includes a Venezia Lines saloon, a bar with various offer, duty-free shop and entertainment.
The Piran Bay is a real paradise for lovers of sailing and a good starting point for excursions to the islands of the Adriatic Sea. On the coast you can rent sailing boats, for which you need to have a sailing licence or lease an experienced sailor together with the sailing boat

The Izola Harbour Marina with four piers has 620 berths for vessels of length up to 30 metres and draught up to 4.5 metres. There are additional 100 land berths for vessels. All piers have water and electricity outlets. The harbour marina also offers possibilities of repair and maintenance of vessels, ship engines and electronic devices; additionally repairs and assembly of hydraulic equipment, as well as repair and manufacture of tarpaulins can be done. This harbour marina has a 50-ton self-propelling lift, a vehicle for vessels up to the maximum weight of 5 tons, as well as a mast lift.
The harbour marina in Izola offers its guests a comfortable stay, spacious piers, green surfaces with tennis courts, nautical shop, car parks, agencies for sale of new or used vessels and renting vessels, restaurants and a shopping centre nearby.
