Ptuj, one of Slovenia's most picturesque cities, is a veritable stone chronicle with thousands of years of history. Its first chapter was written in the Stone age. Ptuj's image is shaped by architecturally fascinating buildings: the Dominican and Minorite monastery, the Ptuj castle (whose present appearance is a result of centuries of modifications and additions) and the Borl and Štatenberk castles not far from the city.
