Bled is one of Slovenia's most beautiful alpine tourism centers, famous worldwide for its lake and island. The beauty of the mountains is reflected on the tranquil surface of the lake. The sun, fresh air and peace guarantee that visitors will feel good throughout the year. Castle Bled, one of the country's most magnificent monuments, rises atop a stone cliff above the lake. Today, it houses several exhibits: a historical exhibit, the castle printing press, the cellar and the herbal gallery. The Bled island with the church of St. Mary is one of the most recognizable images in Slovenia. 99 stone steps lead to the platform where the church, belltower, the provost's house, the chaplain's house and a small hermitage are located. Of course, no visit to the island is complete without the famous »pletna« ride. The city attracts businessmen, artists, sportsmen, explorers, recreationists, the old and the young from all over the world. Everyone can find something of interest. Bled is also famous for its culinary treasure – the cream slice.
