Železniki

The Železniki municipality lies in the upper part of Selška. Many famous people hail from the area: painter Ivan Grohar, linguist Jakob Šolar, professor and academician France Koblar andfighter for the rights of farmers J.E. Krek. Walkers especially enjoy visiting the sunniest village in the country – Dražgoše, beneath the foothills of Jelovica. Crowds of hikers travel there in early January for the memorial event in honour of the tragic events of World War II. On sunny days, paragliders and hang gliders fly off the edge of Dražgoška gora. Many wonderful souvenirs such as delicate lace and handmade Dražgoše bread will help keep your memories of this municipality alive long after your visit.
