Ankaran

Ankaran is a small seaside town at the very beginning of the Slovenian coast. Plenty of sun, a mild Mediterranean climate, wonderful beaches and lush vegetation make it a true paradise of unforgettable vacation experiences. The Valdoltra hospital and the Debeli rtič youth health and summer resort have been built nearby to take advantage of the beneficial climate. Because of the area's natural beauty, a settlement called Ultra was built here in Roman times. Today, the Adria hotel stands where a 12th-century Benedictine monastery of St. Nicholas used to be. The Ressel grove is a special feature of the town.
