Municipality Kanal ob Soči |
 |
The Kanal ob Soči municipality consists of the lower Soča valley, Kambreško pogorje or Kanalski Kolovrat and the western part of the karstified Banjščica plateau that lies between the Dinaric Alps, the Julian Alps and the Adriatic sea. The city is decorated by the interesting Neptune's fountain, and some of the buildings still bear traces of the Venetian-Slovenian architectural style. Its attractive appearance and picturesque location on the banks of the Soča river contribute to the popularity of Kanal among tourists.
