Rakov Škocjan

Natural sights, Cerknica - The Notranjska region

In the middle of a dense forest, the roof of an underground tunnel collapsed and created a beautiful Karst valley called Rakov Škocjan. Two remnants of the former tunnels still remain: the Large and the Small natural bridge. Beneath them winds the Rak river, which originates in the Zelške jame caves and soon once again descends into the Karst underground. Rakov Škocjan is a protected regional park with a nature trail. The appearance of this natural treasure changes each season, but it is always a magical place.
