Guide to Slovenia, History of Slovenia

In the 3rd century B.C. the blossoming Hallstatt culture was subjugated by Celtic tribes. This people of fighters of Indo-European origin had surpassed all other peoples with their art of iron forging by means of which they had established a strong army of knights in armours and helmets. Regnum Noricum or the Noric Kingdom with its seat in the Gosposvetsko polje was more a knightly link then a country, since these daring and quick-tempered warriors never established a real state. They introduced a new grave culture, a magical supernatural world, a variety of various jewellery and long swords.
