Slovenia never had its own kings, famous warriors or dazzling courts; however, the Slovenes have a history of a simple folk that survived good and bad times of other countries under whose reign it was. The history of the Slovenian nation is a history if a small nation, whose fait was always decided by other nations. The events in Slovenia did not echo much in the European area, even if they have always been a part of this area. It is surprising that this people, few in number but hard-living has survived, formed its identity and developed into a nation within the Austro-Hungarian empire, which later - after more than 70 years of joint living in the Federation of Yugoslavia - decided to form its own country.
