This beautiful renaissance castle with imposing corner towers is made even more impressive by the first botanical garden in Slovenia, created by the brother of Baron Žiga Zois (one of the castle's many owners). Between the two world wars, the castle was owned by Prince Karadjordjević. After WWII, it became the president's summer residence and was used for state receptions. Today, its interior contains all the elegance of a comfortable and luxurious mansion. A huge park with ponds, a hippodrome and sports fields sprawls just outside the castle. There, you can admire an expensive collection of sculptures and a beautiful beehive with painted front panels… or you can simply rest your eyes on the impeccably well-tended grassy surfaces.
