The archaeological collection of the Museum of Dolenjska boasts a great number of impressive and unique items from Slovenia and abroad. From the Iron Age, luxurious battle gear, masterfully crafted pottery, jewelry and multicoloured glass spheres are displayed. One of the most beautiful exhibits is the kantaros, a valuable black ceramic dish decorated with two human faces and handles shaped like the heads of a snake. The ethnological collection of farm tools and the recent history collection are especially impressive. The museum also includes the house of Božidar Jakec with a gallery of the painter's creations and a memorial park with a display of partisan hospitals at Baza 20 in Kočevski Rog.
