Cultural sights, Nova Gorica - Northerm Primorska

The hill above Nova Gorica is topped by a Franciscan monastery from 1625. The monastery church is decorated by beautiful stuccowork, and its crypt contains the sarcophaguses of the French royal family, the Bourbons. The last French king, Charles X, who fled to Gorica after the revolution in 1830 and died there six years later, is also buried here. The monastery houses the library of Dr. Stanislav Škrabec.
